Section 106

If a federal or federally assisted project has the potential to affect historic properties a section 106 review will take place.
Section 106. Initiating section 106 the agency identifies who should participate in the review. Prior to the nhpa being enacted it was not uncommon for nationally significant historic resources to be irreversibly damaged or destroyed by many federal undertakings. Under section 106 each federal agency must consider public views and concerns about historic preservation issues when making final project decisions. The section 106 review process is an integral component of the national historic preservation act nhpa of 1966. Within gsa section 106 is managed by the regional historic preservation officer rhpo.
Section 106 of the nhpa requires each federal agency to identify and assess the effects their actions will have on historic resources. F and struck out former subsec.
