How to clean my c section incision. Wash the area with warm water once a day is sufficient. Change any bandages regularly. Keep the wound area clean by washing it with mild soap and water.

Do not spray water directly. Pat the area dry. Incision care if you go home with a dressing bandage change the dressing over your cut once a day or sooner if it gets dirty or wet.

Wash it daily with warm soapy water and pat dry. If your health care provider has put strips of tape on your incision let them fall off on their own or remove them after a week. If the area gets gooey or crusty you can use cotton tipped swab dipped in a solution of hydrogen peroxide mixed with water 50 50 and gently clean the area.

Instead of scrubbing it gently squeeze out a washcloth or loofah on the belly above the incision so the soap and water will trickle down over the incision. If you re not comfortable taking a full on shower you can cloth wash yourself especially in the incision area. You should let mild soap and water run down the area.

Keeping the area dry and clean. You ll want to use a gentle touch as you care for a c section incision. Repeat this every time you shower until a healthcare professional authorizes you to bathe.

This usually takes about a week. Your provider will tell you when to stop keeping your wound covered. Be sure to use an unperfumed soap and pat the area dry lightly.
