Act Sections

Act sections. Lets students take individual act test sections or subjects again. The act s sections are english math science and reading plus an optional 40 minute writing section. The act is composed of four multiple choice sections english math reading and science and one optional essay section writing.
There are four sections on the act and they are always offered in the same order. Students must first take a full act test and have a valid composite score on file. English reading math and science as well as an optional writing test.
The new opportunity to retest in specific exam sections rather than retaking the entire act. There are no limits on the number of times a student may take a retest. The act includes the following act sections.
Total testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes for the act without writing and 3 hours and 35 minutes for the act with writing. The act science section is not a test of scientific facts. The act science section consists of several passages where you ll have to respond to short paragraphs charts graphs tables or some combination thereof they re not like the passages in the reading section where you just respond to a wall of text.

Every section is scored out of 36 points except for writing which is scored out of 12 points. This is great news for students who may love their act score in one two or three of the four act test sections but have a particular area or areas that s bringing. Some schools may require the writing test so be sure to ask before you register for the act.
